Epoxidized soybean oil (CAS: 8013-07-8, ESO) is a bio-based epoxy compound produced by the epoxidation of refined soybean oil. Its molecular formula is C₅₇H₉₈O₁₂, and its molecular weight is approximately 975.38. ESO is a pale yellow to amber-colored, transparent, viscous, oily liquid with a faint vegetable oil odor. It is internationally recognized as a non-toxic, environmentally friendly plastic additive. The product is classified by purity into industrial grade (≥98%) and food/medical grade (≥99%), and by epoxide value into standard grade (≥6.0%) and high epoxide value grade (≥6.5%).
