Helional, also known as piperonal or 2-methyl-3-(3,4-methylenedioxyphenyl)propanal, is a homolog of piperonal. MF: C₁₁H₁₂O₃, MW: 192.21. At room temperature, it is a colorless to pale yellow oily liquid with a complex aroma combining floral, green, aldehydic, and ozone-like notes; the scent is soft and long-lasting. As a high-end monomer fragrance, it is widely used in perfumery, personal care, and food industries.
