
2,5-Dimethoxybenzaldehyde appears as a yellow to beige crystalline powder at room temperature with stable chemical properties. Its molecule contains aldehyde and methoxy groups, enabling typical aldehyde reactions. It is easily oxidized to carboxylic acids and can also undergo addition and condensation reactions. It is soluble in alcoholic and ethereal organic solvents and slightly soluble in water. It tends to react with strong oxidants and strong alkalis, and shows no obvious decomposition upon heating. It is low-toxic and features the properties of aromatic compounds. Sealed, light-proof and dry storage is required.
