N-Butanol, also known as butanol or 1-butanol, is a primary alcohol with the chemical reactivity of a primary alcohol. It can be oxidised by oxidising agents such as potassium dichromate and can undergo esterification reactions with other carboxylic acids under the catalysis of concentrated sulphuric acid.
