  • 1 Methylcyclopropene(1-MCP), molecular formula C₄H₆ and molecular weight 54.09. It is a colorless gas at room temperature. Its molecule contains a highly strained cyclopropene double bond, making it chemically reactive, prone to addition reactions and self-polymerization. It is slightly soluble in water but readily soluble in organic solvents, and easily decomposes under high temperature, acids, alkalis or strong oxidants. It can competitively bind to ethylene receptors and is of low toxicity.

Product Application Of 1 Methylcyclopropene Cas 3100-04-7

  1.  Fruit and Vegetable Preservation: Mainly used for postharvest storage of fruits and vegetables such as apples, pears, kiwifruits, bananas and tomatoes. By inhibiting the effects of ethylene, it delays ripening and senescence, reduces softening and decay, and extends shelf life and storage duration.

  2.  Flower Preservation: Applied to fresh cut flowers and potted flowers including roses, lilies and carnations. It inhibits premature blooming, wilting and abscission, maintains flower color and shape, and prolongs the ornamental period.

  3.  Preservation of Seedlings and Horticultural Crops:
    1 Methylcyclopropene is  used in the transportation and storage of fruit tree seedlings and ornamental seedlings to reduce respiratory consumption, improve transplant survival rate, and minimize storage and transportation losses.

  4.  Agricultural Storage, Transportation and Circulation:
    1-MCP is used as an eco-friendly preservative in cold-chain logistics and warehousing, mitigating quality degradation of fruits, vegetables and flowers during long-distance transportation and improving commodity yield.

  5.  Scientific Research and Experimental Use:
    As an ethylene action inhibitor, it is applied in studies on plant physiology and postharvest biology to explore mechanisms related to ripening, senescence and abscission.
