Chemical Properties Of Cyclohexane CAS 110-82-7

  • Cyclohexane is volatile and highly flammable. Its vapor forms an explosive mixture with air, with an explosion limit of 1.3 to 8.3% (volume). It is extremely easy to burn and explode when exposed to open flames and high heat. It reacts violently with oxidants and even causes combustion. In a fire scene, heated containers are at risk of explosion. Its vapor is heavier than air and can spread to a considerable distance at a lower level. It will catch fire and burn back when it encounters a fire source.
  • It is relatively stable to acids and alkalis. It does not react with medium concentrations of nitric acid or mixed acids at low temperatures. It undergoes nitration reaction with dilute nitric acid in a sealed tube above 100°C to produce nitrocyclohexane.
  • Under the catalysis of platinum or palladium, dehydrogenation reaction occurs above 350°C to produce benzene. It isomerizes with aluminum oxide, molybdenum sulfide, cobalt, nickel, and aluminum at high temperatures to produce methylpentane. It isomerizes with aluminum trichloride under mild conditions to methylcyclopentane.

Product Application Of Cyclohexane CAS 110-82-7

  • Used to prepare cyclohexanol, cyclohexanone, caprolactam, adipic acid and nylon 6, etc. Cyclohexane is mainly used to make cyclohexanol and cyclohexanone (accounting for about 90%), and further produce adipic acid and caprolactam. They are monomers for the production of polyamide. A small amount is used as industrial and coating solvents, and it is an excellent solvent for resins, fats, paraffin oils, butyl rubber, etc.
  • In addition, Chemicalbook cyclohexane is also used in the pharmaceutical industry for the synthesis of pharmaceutical intermediates. Cyclohexane is particularly suitable as a solvent for styrene-butadiene rubber, and its consumption is generally more than 4 times the feed amount. 90% of cyclohexane is used in the production of cyclohexanone, which is an intermediate product in the production of caprolactam and adipic acid. It is also used as a general solvent, chromatographic analysis standard substance, photoresist solvent and organic synthesis.
