At standard temperature and pressure, it exists as a yellow crystalline powder. 9-Fluorenone exhibits mild basicity and undergoes reduction reactions with reducing agents such as lithium aluminum hydride or sodium borohydride to yield corresponding diphenylmethanol derivatives. It also reacts with certain strong oxidizing agents, demonstrating relatively active chemical properties.
