Aluminum fluoride (MF: AlF₃, MW: 83.98) is a white crystalline powder. It is commonly found in two forms: anhydrous aluminum fluoride and aluminum fluoride trihydrate. The anhydrous form is primarily used in industry and appears as a white crystalline powder. It is chemically stable at room temperature and exhibits slight hygroscopicity. Unlike other aluminum halides, aluminum fluoride is refractory; it sublimates at 1272°C without decomposing.
