
Azodicarbonamide, commonly abbreviated as ADC/AC blowing agent, with the molecular formula C₂H₄N₄O₂ and molecular weight of 116.08, is a high-temperature decomposition-type chemical blowing agent. Its molecular structure contains an azo double bond and amide groups, and it is produced by the reaction of hydrazine, urea, and chlorine (or nitrous acid). Its key characteristics include high gas yield, colorless and odorless decomposition residues, and uniform cell structure. It is one of the most widely used blowing agents in the plastics and rubber industries and can also serve as a flour treatment agent (improver) in food additives.
