As an organic synthesis intermediate, cyclohexanol is used to synthesize caprolactam, adipic acid, and other alicyclic compounds.
Hydroxycyclohexane is commonly used to dissolve natural resins (e.g., shellac, rosin), synthetic resins (e.g., alkyd resins, epoxy resins), rubber, oils, fats, dyes, etc.
Cyclohexanol can be directly used in flavor compounding (e.g., menthol-type, woody-type flavors); its esters (e.g., cyclohexanecarboxylic acid ethyl ester, cyclohexanecarboxylic acid benzyl ester) are common fragrance raw materials for perfumes, skincare products, and detergents.
