Diisobutyl phthalate (DIBP) is an ester compound formed from phthalic acid and isobutyl alcohol, with the molecular formula C₁₆H₂₂O₄, molecular weight 278.34. At room temperature, it is a colorless to pale yellow, transparent, oily liquid with a faint aromatic odor. It is highly compatible with most resins and is a commonly used general-purpose plasticizer in the plastics industry. Its plasticizing performance is similar to that of di-n-butyl phthalate (DBP), but it offers superior cold resistance and a more cost-effective solution. It is widely used in plastics, coatings, rubber, adhesives, and other fields.
