Dioctyl phthalate (MF: C₂₄H₃₈O₄, MW: 390.56) is a colorless or pale yellow transparent liquid with a distinctive odor, produced by the esterification reaction of phthalic anhydride and 2-ethylhexanol. It is one of the most widely used plasticizers in plastic processing. It offers excellent overall performance, high processing efficiency, low volatility, UV resistance, and cold resistance, improving both the flexibility and electrical properties of the final product, making it a relatively ideal primary plasticizer.
