
Dodecylamine (Laurylamine, C₁₂H₂₇N) is a long-chain aliphatic primary amine. It is a white waxy solid at room temperature (mp ~28°C) and becomes a colorless to pale yellow liquid when heated. It is strongly alkaline, sparingly soluble in water, but miscible with ethanol, ether, benzene, and chloroform. It is flammable, reactive with acids to form salts, and exhibits amphiphilic surfactant properties.
