Hexafluorosilicic acid (chemical formula H₂SiF₆, commonly known as silicofluoride or hydrofluorosilicic acid) is an aqueous solution of hexafluorosilicic acid. It has a molecular weight of 144.09 and is a colorless, transparent, fuming liquid at room temperature, with a strong, pungent odor and high acidity (comparable to that of sulfuric acid). The anhydrous form is an unstable colorless gas that readily decomposes into silicon tetrafluoride and hydrogen fluoride. It is widely used in the fluorochemical industry, metal processing, water treatment, analytical chemistry, and other fields.
