L-lactide (MF: C₆H₈O₄, MW: 144.12) is a cyclic dimer formed by intermolecular dehydration condensation of L-lactic acid. It is one of the optical isomers of lactide and serves as a key monomer in the synthesis of the biodegradable polymer polylactic acid (PLA). It is primarily used in the preparation of high-purity L-polylactic acid (PLLA).
