Polymer Materials Field
– Used in the production of unsaturated polyester resin (UPR), which is widely applied in fiberglass, artificial marble, coatings, adhesives, and more—such as appliance casings, pipes, and ship components.
– Used in synthesizing polymaleic anhydride (PMA) for water treatment agents (scale inhibitors) and oilfield chemicals, effectively preventing scale formation.
– As a copolymer monomer with ethylene, propylene, etc., it enhances plastic adhesion and weather resistance for applications in packaging films and engineering plastics.
Used in synthesizing alkyd resins and acrylic resins for automotive coatings, industrial anti-corrosion coatings, printing inks, etc.
Pharmaceutical and Pesticide Applications
– Serves as a pharmaceutical intermediate for synthesizing anti-inflammatory analgesics, vitamin B1, and similar compounds.
– Used in producing herbicides (as auxiliary components in paraquat, glyphosate, etc.) and fungicides to enhance efficacy and stability.
Also functions as a paper sizing agent and lubricant additive.
