
Meglumine, with the molecular formula C₇H₁₇NO₅, is a white crystalline powder that is odorless, has a slightly sweet and salty taste, is highly soluble in water, slightly soluble in ethanol, and insoluble in organic solvents such as diethyl ether. It possesses excellent solubilizing, stabilizing, and chelating properties. It is primarily used as an excipient in medical contrast agents, a drug solubilizer, in hepatobiliary contrast agents, and as a biochemical analysis reagent.
