Octocrylene with the molecular formula C24H27NO2, is a white to off-white crystalline powder; the industrial grade has a slight yellowish tint; It is stable at room temperature, resistant to light and heat, insoluble in water, and readily soluble in ethanol, oils, and organic solvents. It possesses excellent UV absorption properties. It is primarily used as a sunscreen agent in cosmetics, a raw material for UV protection in skincare products, a sunscreen additive in personal care products, and a polymeric light stabilizer.
