Polybutylene succinate (PBS), also known as polybutylene succinate, is a semi-crystalline aliphatic polyester formed by the condensation polymerisation of succinic acid and 1,4-butanediol. It appears as milky white to pale yellow granules, is odourless and tasteless, and can be completely degraded by microorganisms into carbon dioxide and water under domestic/industrial composting conditions, making it a typical fully biodegradable polymer material.
