
Polyhydroxystearic acid (PHSA) is a homopolymer of 12-hydroxystearic acid, primarily existing in the form of dimers and trimers (accounting for 70–85%). Its chemical name is poly(12-hydroxyoctadecanoic acid), MF: (C₁₈H₃₆O₃) MW: 300.48. It typically appears as an amber to brown viscous liquid or waxy solid and possesses excellent dispersibility, emulsifying properties, and film-forming capabilities. Widely used in cosmetics, coatings, lubricants, and other fields, it is a plant-derived, eco-friendly, multifunctional additive.
