  • Potassium citrate, also known as tripotassium citrate, is a potassium salt formed by the neutralization of citric acid with potassium hydroxide. It typically exists in the form of a monohydrate, with the molecular formula C6H5K3O7, MW: 306.39500. It is a white or slightly yellow crystalline granule or crystalline powder, odorless, salty in taste, cool to the touch, and hygroscopic.
  • In the food industry, it is used as a buffer, chelating agent, stabilizer, antioxidant, emulsifier, and flavoring agent. Potassium citrate is also used in milk and dairy products, jellies, jams, meats, canned gelatin desserts, cheese emulsification, and citrus preservation. In the pharmaceutical industry, it is used to treat hypokalemia and potassium deficiency, as well as to alkalize urine.

  2. Pharmaceutical Field: Used as a drug component for uric acid reduction and dissolution of uric acid stones; used to prevent and treat hypokalemia; raw material for potassium supplements;
  3. Industrial and Household Chemicals: Potassium citrate can be used as a chelating agent in detergents and cleaning agents (to soften hard water); as a complexing agent and buffer in the electroplating industry; and as a pH regulator in cosmetics and toothpaste;
