
Stannous chloride (MF: Cl2Sn MW:189.62)is a white crystalline powder, highly deliquescent and extremely soluble in water and dilute acids. Its aqueous solution is weakly acidic with poor stability. It is easily oxidized by air to form tetravalent tin salts and prone to hydrolysis and precipitation after long-term storage. It has strong reducibility, capable of reducing various metal ions and oxidants, and can react with alkalis and halogens. It shall be stored in a sealed, moisture-proof and air-isolated environment. Slightly corrosive, it should be kept away from strong oxidants.

Electroplating Industry: Stannous Chloride is used as the main tin-plating salt, electroplating reducing agent and complexing agent to stabilize plating bath components, refine coating crystals, and improve the adhesion and uniformity of metal coatings.
Chemical Reduction: It is a strong reducing agent, applied in printing and dyeing as well as dye synthesis to reduce pigments and chromogenic substances. It is also used for precious metal recovery and ionic reduction purification.
Analytical Reagents: A commonly used laboratory analytical reagent for the detection of mercury, arsenic, phosphates and other substances, serving as a reductive color developing agent and auxiliary for quantitative analysis.
Leather Printing and Dyeing: SnCl2 is used as a textile mordant and leather tanning auxiliary to fix and stabilize colors, enhance the color fastness of fabrics, and prevent discoloration and shedding of dyes.
Anticorrosion and Auxiliaries: Applied in metal surface passivation and corrosion inhibition treatment. It also acts as an intermediate for plastics and fragrance synthesis, and is widely used in fine chemical production.
