Stannous octoate (T-9 catalyst) is an organotin compound with MF: C₁₆H₃₀O₄Sn, MW:405.12. It is a clear, colorless to pale yellow viscous liquid at room temperature, prone to yellowing upon oxidation of Sn(II) to Sn(IV). It is soluble in organic solvents and polyols but degrades in water. It is flammable (flash point ~113°C), strongly catalytic, and sensitive to hydrolysis and oxidation.
T9 Catalyst is a core catalyst in the polyurethane industry, offering both highly active gel catalysis and mild anti-aging properties. It is widely used in foam plastics, elastomers, coatings, and room-temperature vulcanizing silicone rubber.
