  1. TOTM is an aromatic tricarboxylic acid ester plasticizer produced by the esterification reaction of trimellitic acid with octanol, with a molecular formula (MF) of C₃₃H₅₄O₆ and a molecular weight (MW) of 546.78.
  2. Trioctyl trimellitate is a transparent oily liquid at room temperature, exhibiting excellent heat resistance, light resistance, and aging resistance. It does not easily decompose, migrate, or extract under high temperatures or prolonged use.
  3. The durability of TOTM is comparable to that of polymeric plasticizers, while its plasticizing efficiency and processing performance are similar to those of phthalate plasticizers. It also possesses some characteristics of both monomeric and polymeric plasticizers.

  1.  Wire and cable materials: TOTM’s high heat resistance makes it suitable for high-temperature PVC products, such as heat-resistant cables and automotive wires, ensuring long-term use in high-temperature environments without plasticizer evaporation or migration.
  2.  Heat-resistant pipes and sheets: Such as hot water pipes and industrial-grade heat-resistant PVC sheets, Tri(2-ethylhexyl) tricarboxylate can withstand high temperatures without hardening or cracking.
  3.  Automotive interior components: Such as instrument panels and seals, which must withstand high temperatures inside vehicles (up to 80-100°C in summer), TOTM enhances the heat aging resistance of the products.
  4.  Synthetic rubber: Used in nitrile rubber, chloroprene rubber, and other products to improve their elasticity retention and oil resistance at high temperatures, such as high-temperature seals and hoses.
  5.  Cellulose acetate, cellulose nitrate, etc.: Tri(2-ethylhexyl) tricarboxylate, as a plasticizer, enhances the flexibility and heat resistance of materials, used in coatings, films, etc.
  6.  Medical devices: TOTM plasticizer can be used in certain PVC products that come into contact with the human body (such as IV tubes and blood bags), as it offers superior low migration and biocompatibility.
  7.  Outdoor weather-resistant products: Such as waterproof membranes and agricultural films, leveraging its light resistance and aging resistance to extend service life.
