Trimethylolpropane (TMP) is a trihydric polyol containing three primary hydroxyl groups. It is a white, odorless crystalline solid with the molecular formula C₆H₁₄O₃ and a molecular weight of 134.17. It exhibits high hydroxyl reactivity and excellent heat resistance, hydrolysis resistance, and weather resistance, making it a key fine chemical intermediate in the production of synthetic resins, polyurethanes, and coatings.
