Zinc acetylacetonate is a metal-organic complex with the molecular formula C₁₀H₁₄O₄Zn and molecular weight 263.61. It appears as a white to pale yellow crystalline powder with a characteristic odor. It is chemically stable but readily reacts with oxidizing agents. It exists in a trimeric form: Zn₃(acac)₆. Its molecular structure features a stable tetrahedral metal-organic coordination framework, conferring excellent thermal and chemical stability.

Zinc acetylacetonate Applications in Polymer Materials:
– Serves as a thermal stabilizer for plastics including polyvinyl chloride (PVC), polyethylene (PE), and polypropylene (PP), replacing traditional lead and cadmium salt stabilizers with environmentally friendly, non-toxic properties;
– Functions as a crosslinking catalyst in the curing reactions of silicone rubber, polyurethane (PU), and epoxy resins.
As a catalyst, Zinc acetylacetonate is used in organic synthesis and polymerization reactions, such as esterification, transesterification, condensation reactions, and radical polymerization of acrylic ester monomers.
As a pharmaceutical and pesticide intermediate, zinc ii acetylacetonate is used to synthesize antibacterial drugs, pesticide active ingredients, etc.
Additionally, XX serves as a drying accelerator for coatings, UV-curable coatings, in the preparation of zinc oxide nanopowders, and as an additive in electronic pastes.
